This is the offset Kung Fu film I ever saw with Donnie Yen in it - when I had first watched it, I was actually quite amazed at the choreography and the more serious plot. I've since become a huge Donnie Yen fan & have seen most of his films - going back to re-sentry this Donnie Yen film, I will say it is one of his top films.
Are there contrived aspects to the story - at times yeah; but they can be easily overlooked (eastward.m., his partner that is a lightning rod for all sorts of injuries). Merely they serve a purpose - they put emotion backside the scenes where Donnie Yen takes the spotlight. And Donnie Yen himself actually pulled off a pretty proficient acting operation, making his character actually come to life (due east.g., compared to the similar character he played in Special ID that I thought was a chip cheesy).
The action scenes with Donnie Yen throughout the film are really well done, but the final activeness sequence is virtually exceptional. The scenes that develop his character are nicely done - particularly one scene reminiscent of Human on Fire with Denzel in how attempts to gain leverage over the protagonist arm-twist a really special type of bad-assery (for lack of a meliorate term).
So if y'all are new to Donnie Yen or you've seen several of his films, this film will validate (further) Donnie Yen's rapid ascent the last few years into the American film manufacture - e.g., XXX: Return; Star Wars: Rogue Ane, etc. I recollect we'll get to see even more incredible Donnie Yen action films in the next few years; his potential could send him higher than many of the Martial Arts stars that broke into Hollywood over the last 20 years.

Wink Indicate is another police force action movie starring Donnie Yen who is after 3 brothers, Collin Chou, Xing Yu and Ray Lui. The flick has an interesting start because information technology's about Yen existence an abusive cop. That's supposed to make him a rebel which is reinforced when he goes before a review board and has an attitude. Those two attributes will come out more and more as the picture progresses. Yen is good at these roles and he doesn't disappoint here. In terms of fighting Yen doesn't use his usual Kung Fu style but a lot of Mixed Martial Arts with things like knee blows and leg locks. Chou gets the worst of that at the finish.

First off this is a solid 4 1/two star film. I love the groundwork in this film Donnie yen put in. He's known for his martial arts only information technology'due south awesome to encounter him put in some ufc style moves in there. He just elevates his ksills and acting to some other level. He' due south a great actor too. Absurd, collected, i'm certain the daughter think he'due south handsome and in shape too. I gave this movie a 4 because I found the storyline lacking a little with no articulate reason why the bad guys were indeed the enemy. They kind of simply put us correct in the heart of story and nosotros are supposed to sympathize the adept guys from the bad. I similar it when a picture show goes into detail about why the good guys are skilful and how the bad guys became what they are. I want to come across the movie develop from intro >offset> middle>cease>decision. THis picture show felt like it went directly to the first or centre and forgot to build the storyline starting time. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Other than that information technology's a existent bad a$$ motion picture and if you love martial arts films this is a must see besides! Thanks Godbless.

This had the potential to exist a 5 star all the way. I loved the display of mixed martial arts. I loved the settings and the actors. It'south but that, the number of fights we're lacking. In fact Donnie Yen only fought two bad guys in this i. The terminal fight was awesome, and the other one wasn't a good fight at all. It ended fast and the other guy was manhandled by Donnie Yen. Then there was some good gunplay at the finish. But when a picture show goes off and I'm just expecting something else to happen, it shows that the moving-picture show really didn't fill my appetite.
I finally came to give this a 3 later watching information technology a couple more times. If this motion-picture show would've had a couple more fight scenes that we're impressive, it could have easily earned a 5 star from me. It was less of an action film and more of a drama motion-picture show. Just a bad balance between action and drama to me.
Equally any other kung fu or activeness film that falls short of a 4 or five, I trade it back in. I wish this moving-picture show we're better and so I wouldn't have to exercise that. But I accept no pick. My opinion on this moving picture is it's worth a rental and sentinel. Later that it'southward no use to keep it around.

If you lot're a fan of Donnie Yen or just Martial Arts Films in general then Flash Bespeak is something y'all may desire to add to your archives. Keep in mind the film is in Chinese, so if you just speak English you lot will accept to read from the subtitles, which is never an outcome for me. Y'all will demand to permit the story to develop a piffling chip earlier the action becomes full diddled, you will exist rewarded for your wait (the final dominate battle is an incredible exchange). Smashing Martial Arts, Precise Cinematography, average storyline.

Not enough action, but what is on display is fantastic. Just lots more mellow dramatics and unnecessary padding, at least for my viewing pleasure. Its always nice to see Donnie Yen on camera, only wish the story allowed for him to be "unleashed" as it where. If this would have been an American production it would have been something like to The Expendables. But don't take these words to mean I hated the film, I didn't. I loved every last morsel of action they game me.

Don't pay attending to the reviews most misdirected sub plots and poor acting...The fight choreography is incredible! The final fight scene is a Kung Fu fans dream! I would have to say that it's probably bar none the best fight I've ever seen in a movie. This should be a gem of anyone'southward Donnie Yen collection.
